An exact replica of Dr. John Christophers well-known formula for over-
and under-active bowels and poor eliminative capacity. Only slightly
laxative, it acts mainly to tone the colon smooth muscle, restoring
normal peristaltic function. Can be used for quite long periods at
varying dosage, depending upon the individual, and is best accompanied
by dietary guidance and colonic hydrotherapy.
As
above, but without Goldenseal, which is replaced by an extra part of
fennel. This formula should be either alternated with the regular CO-TON
or should be used to replace the regular for long-term use. Goldenseal,
whilst a very useful (and expensive!) herb, should not be used long-term.
Described as the ultimate laxative, this is for the chronically constipated
patient who needs strong treatment. This formula is carefully buffered
with carminitive herbs to prevent griping. The aim should always be
to move on to the tonifying and restorative CO - TON when possible.
Prolonged laxative use may create more problems than they relieve.
